This week's guest is Carissa McNamara, MPA, Equine Professional, Co-owner of BX Equine, and Chair of EAGALA's Board of Directors.

 

This week’s guest is Carissa McNamara, MPA, Equine Professional, Co-owner of BX Equine, and Chair of EAGALA’s Board of Directors.

Carissa has a Masters Degree in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. While there, she worked for The George Washington Law School Office of Advancement. Including researching the impact of technology related to Homeland Security, the implementation of legislation related to No Child Left Behind. When Carissa returned to Utah she took the position of Program Director for a residential treatment facility for women and children with substance abuse issues.

Carissa has more than 17 years of experience in the Quarter Horse industry, breeding, raising and showing cutting horses.

Carissa suffered major trauma from a severe car accident in 2005. Having personal first-hand experience with PTSD through the process of recovering, she has committed her life and her passion to researching alternative treatments for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) using Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.

Carissa currently resides in Utah where she continues “living her dream” through her work in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy with her herd of magnificent equine healers!
